Generally I restrict writing contests to my creative writing blog but as this is for dog lovers I thought I’d post here.

To enter the contest alll you have to do is tell a story from your dog’s perspective and you could win free pet food and more in their Tell It Like It Is Writing Contest. The contest is been hosted by Alpo.

To enter, write an essay from the perspective of your dog which describes his or her “favorite ‘real dog’ behavior and why it’s time to let dogs be dogs again.” Send it, along with a picture of your dog doing the behavior you described in your essay to Alpo.

20 grand-prize winners will be chosen to receive coupons for a free one-year supply of Purina ALPO brand Dog Food. The winners’ entries will also be featured in a “how-to” manual for dogs titled the ALPO Real Dogs Eat Meat Handbook, and a complimentary copy of the book. Each grand prize is worth over $550.

Just for entering, the first 600 entries will also receive a coupon for a free 13.2 oz or smaller can of Purina ALPO brand Dog Food and an ALPO brand pet food serving utensil, a prize worth about $10.

Entry into the Tell It Like It Is Writing Contest is open to US residents who are dog owners and don’t earn income as a photographer or writer aged 18 and above. Enter once before September 28, 2009.
